Taylor Swift fans have reacted to a figure cast in shadow who was seen lurking above the stage at one of her Eras Tour concerts in Madrid.

The 34-year-old played at the Estadio Santiaogo Bernabeu but while she was entertaining the Spanish capital, the shadow of a person was seen watching Taylor Swift from above as she sang on stage.

The mysterious spectator was alone, in an area that is blocked off to ticket-holders.

As photos of the unidentified looker on were shared on social media, they gave their theories on who it could be – her ex-boyfriends, music rivals and everyone else in between.

Kanye West and Taylor Swift feud

Some fans quipped it was Kanye West lurking, who had a several-year-long feud with the star. The rift began when the celebrity stole Taylor’s microphone at the 2009 VMAs when she won Music Video of the Year, to tell the crowd and millions watching the accolade should have been handed to Beyonce instead.

Then he released song Famous from his eighth album, where he rapped: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that b***h famous (Goddamn)”.

After the track came out and he received backlash, Kim Kardashian shared a recording of the phone call months earlier when Ye supposedly called Taylor to ask permission for the lyric – although just first the line. It seemed to denounce her claim she wasn’t aware of what he was going to sing about her in the song. However, years later, a full recording of the conversation was leaked, and appeared to show the one Kardashian released was edited or cut down.

In the new clip, Ye doesn’t tell Swift the full lyric, not reading out ‘I made that b***h famous’, that she reacted to.

In the call, she says: “I thought it was going to be like, ‘that stupid, dumb b***h’, but it’s not”.

When he says he wants to say ‘I made her famous’ Taylor responds: “Well, what am I going to do about it?” and Ye laughs and suggests doing a ‘hair flip’.

Taylor then reminds the star she released two multi-million-selling albums before he stole the mic at the VMAs.

She schooled him: “It’s just kind of like, whatever, at this point. But I mean, you’ve got to tell the story the way that it happened to you and the way that you’ve experienced it. Like, you honestly didn’t know who I was before that. Like, it doesn’t matter if I sold 7 million of that album [“Fearless”] before you did that, which is what happened. You didn’t know who I was before that. It’s fine.”

While he admits Kim Kardashian prefers to change the lyric to ‘Taylor Swift might owe me sex’ over the pair ‘may still have sex’, the singer says it’s up to him to ‘protect their relationship’. But she argues ‘owing’ sex may upset feminists, which Tay-Tay proudly is.

But Taylor Swift fans have other ideas on who the shadow figure on stage is

Aside from West, others joked it was Billie Eilish who ‘couldn’t afford the ticket’. It comes after Eilish slammed music stars who release multiple album and vinyl covers to get more bang for their buck, which she said was wasteful.

Someone else claimed it could be Taylor’s ex Joe Alwyn, after their six-year relationship ended in April 2023.

One Swiftie begged: “I’m scared, WTF, delete,” and someone else suggested Taylor Swift was behind the shadow figure on stage as she’s ‘teasing something’

While another quipped it was Scooter Braun, who was in a long legal battle with the singer over the ownership of the masters of her back catalog. It resulted in Taylor re-recording her first albums and releasing them as ‘Taylor’s Version’ to own the rights to her music.
