Actor Dave Hughes has said fellow talent Samuel Johnson stole a part that was ‘written’ for himself in the Crackerjack movie.
The 53-year-old celebrity told 2DAY FM’s radio hosts on the Ed & Erin show, he was supposed to play the part in the 2002 Australian comedy.
Crackerjack, starring and written by Mick Molloy, was handed a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score, saw Samuel Johnson play Dave Jackson.
During a conversation with Johnson, Hughes said Samuel’s role was initially made with him in mind.

Hughes says: “He got the role that was written for me.
“I thought I’d entered it into my diary. I was getting a lot of corporate gigs at the time. I didn’t take any corporate gigs because I was playing that role”.
But Samuel Johnson backed up his claim, saying Molloy, who wrote the film, didn’t plan for him to get a spot on the Crackerjack cast.
But he says producers influenced the decision.
He adds he played Dave for “political and financial reasons’.
Whereas Hughes, who was working for ABC at the time, went to work for Channel 10 the following year, despite producers wanting someone from the broadcaster in the flick.
