George Clooney called up Joe Biden’s top aides to complain over The White House’s reaction to how they were responding to the Gaza conflict, sources claim.
The movie star reportedly phoned up to rebuke the government for what it said following an international arrest warrant being issued for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a case his wife backed and worked on.
The conversation between George Clooney and officials regarding the ICC took place last month, writes The Washington Post.
Insiders say George Clooney called Biden’s counselor, Steve Ricchetti, and pushed back on the President’s condemnation of the ICC (International Criminal Court) and their arrest warrants for Netanyahu as well as Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

Sources claim the celebrity was especially upset Biden called the actions ‘outrageous’.
Mr Biden said following the warrant announcement: “The ICC prosecutor’s application for arrest warrants against Israeli leaders is outrageous”.
The film star reportedly was concerned over reports The White House was considering sanctions against the ICC, which would affect his wife, Amal, in the retaliation.
The news comes ahead of a fundraiser for the President, where the Oceans Eleven star is set to appear.
It’s said Joe Biden’s team are worried he may choose not to attend the event, which will also see appearances by former President Barrack Obama, move star Julia Roberts and TV host Jimmy Kimmel, over the ICC clash.
The ICC announced the warrants for Israeli and Hamas leaders, and accused both sides of war crimes as the Gaza conflict rages on.
George Clooney’s wife Amal said after the ICC warrants were announced: “I support the historic step that the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court has taken to bring justice to victims of atrocities in Israel and Palestine”.
The legal expert served with others who are leaders in their field, and agreed to recommend to the ICC to seek the warrants. But the United States is not a member of the court.

George Clooney and Biden have had a long relationship, and the star met with the head of state when he was vice president.
In 2022, he spoke highly of the Hollywood actor at the 45th Kennedy Center Honors, detailing he ‘sincerely’ respected Clooney for his ‘deep empathy’.
Netanyahu, Gallant and three leaders of Hamas, Yehia Sinwar, Ismail Haniyeh and Mohammed Deif, were accused of war crimes following the Israel-Gaza war which began after October 7.
Hamas invaded the state and killed 1,200 people and kidnapping hundreds more. In the conflict since, more than 35,000 Palestinians have been killed with thousands more displaced, with food and medical aid diminishing.
