Taylor Swift is the problem, it’s her.
Taylor Swift apparently would tease her boyfriend Travis Kelce in the early days of their relationship, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has said.
Reid knew the Cruel Summer singer before the tight end called her out on social media asking for a date. He came close to her family during his tenure coaching the Philadelphia Eagles between 1999 and 2012 – a team her dad is a huge fan of.
But apparently, this was a nightmare for the NFL star.
The coach joked on the recent podcast episode of Let’s Go! with Tom Brady, Lary Fitzgerald and Jim Gray, how the singer teased him about it.
He said: “That was the last thing Trav wanted to hear – that I knew her before him.
“She told him, ‘I know your coach,’ and he went, ‘Oh gosh, come on.'”
He also praised her dad, too.
The 65-year-old added: “She’s been great. Her dad played at Delaware and was a big football fan and a good guy, so I’d met him.”
But the coach doesn’t think the mania surrounding Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce is a problem for the sport. He believes it’s not causing any issues for the team, who are set to face the 49ers next month at the Super Bowl.
Reid continued: “She’s a good girl and I’m happy for Trav, and there has been no distraction that way at all.
“Travis handled it right, she’s handled it right and we just move forward. It hasn’t been a problem at all.”
It comes after a fan hurled abuse at Taylor Swift at the stadium last weekend when she rushed onto the field to embrace Travis after the Chiefs’ win.
34-year-old Travis knows All Too Well about the mania surrounding their blossoming relationship but isn’t letting it get to him.
He said during a press conference last week: “The only thing we’ve talked about is as long as we’re happy, we can’t listen to anything that’s outside noise.
“That’s all that matters”.
Taylor, also 34, spoke about it as well in her profile feature at the end of last year when she was named Time’s Person Of The Year.
She said back in December: “When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care.
“The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”
