Chris Gauthier, who starred in an array of films and television series, has died at the age of 48.
The English-born Canadian actor passed away on Friday, February 23. He was known for starring in Eureka, Smallville, Once Upon A Time, and Supernatural as well as many other hits.
His talent agency, TriSTar Appearances/Event Horizon Talent announced the tragic news in a statement.
The star died ‘suddenly and unexpectedly’ after contracting an undisclosed illness. No more details about Chris Gauthier’s cause of death have been released.

He has left behind his wife Erin and their two sons, as the family ask for privacy so they can “grieve properly”.
“We can confirm that our dear friend and client, Chris Gauthier, passed away on Friday morning, February 23, at the age of 48,” the statement from his agency read.
“As a beloved character actor, Chris shared his talents with so many of us both on television and in film. His loss is felt not just by his fans but by those of us who were lucky enough to know him more personally.
“On behalf of his family, we do ask for privacy during this time so that they are able to grieve properly.”
The star also featured in Need for Speed: Carbon and William Smee in Once Upon A Time. Other credits include Harper’s Island, Sanctuary, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Legends of Tomorrow, Joe Pickett and the Charmed Reboot.
But he was also cast in movies, such as 40 Days and 40 Nights, Freddy Vs Jason, and Agent Cody Banks.
His co-star Colin O’Donoghue, who played Captain Killian ‘Hook’ paid tribute to him.
He wrote on Instagram: “Rest in Peace Chris! Heartbroken! My love and thoughts go out to Erin and the boys! You will be missed brother! You were the real captain!”
