Prince Harry says it’s ‘still dangerous’ for his wife Meghan Markle to visit to the UK after the duo moved to the US.

The Duke of Sussex said the attention on him ‘pushed’ him ‘too far’ and there was ‘more than enough attention on me and my wife anyway’.

The 42-year-old made the claims in his first major interview since his court case against Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN).

The royal said fighting the press was ‘central’ in destroying his relationship with his family.

Prince Harry: ‘It’s too dangerous for Meghan to go to the UK’

Prince Harry told ITV documentary Tabloids on Trial: “It got to a point where you’re damned if you do and you’re damned if you don’t, I don’t think there’s anybody in the world better suited and placed to be able to see this through than myself.

“It’s still dangerous, and all it takes is one lone actor, one person who reads this stuff to act on what they have read and whether it’s a knife or acid, whatever it is, and these are things that are of genuine concern for me.

“It’s one of the reasons why I won’t bring my wife [Meghan Markle] back to this country.”

The dad-of-two said during the court case the late Queen Elizabeth II supported his actions against the publisher of The Sun and defunct News of the World.

He said: “She knew how much this meant to me and… she’s very much out there, going to see this through to the end, without question”.

Harry also claimed in a witness statement the late monarch, who died in September 2022, wanted Rupert Murdoch to ‘apologize’.

The Duke is bringing a case against News Group Newspapers, publisher of The Sun, in January, over alleged unlawful information-gathering. He has not accused them of phone hacking.

When Harry was asked about his family’s ‘decision not to fight’ in the way he has – through court cases – he said: “I think everything that’s played out has shown people what the truth of the matter is.

“For me, the mission continues, but it has, yes, it’s caused, as you say, part of a rift.”
