Two young children were left alone in an apartment as their mom headed off to a cruise, cops have said.
The 29-year-old was seen leaving her apartment building with luggage on April 4, neighbors told Texas deputies. After multiple days had passed, residents noticed she hadn’t returned, court documents say.
Neighbors told Harris County officials it wasn’t ‘the first time’, and claim a similar incident happened.
Houston officers were called to the apartment on April 9 to conduct a wellness check.

Officers discovered two young children, a six-year-old and eight-year-old, who were alone while their mom was still on the cruise.
They say it was in ‘complete disarray’, with food and trash scattered around the floor. They noted there was a ‘potent smell of urine’ in the apartment as well.
The mom had communicated and watched her children while on the cruise, through a camera in the home, documents added. The older child also had a cell phone to text his mother, officers say.
Child Protective Services were contacted and the children’s aunt took custody of them. The mom was arrested on April 11 on a charge of child abandonment over the alleged crime.
She was booked into Harris County Jail on a $40,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in court on April 15.
Her identity hasn’t been released to protect the children.
