A sheriff’s deputy who was caught with more than 100 pounds of fentanyl pills last year was working with El Chapo’s cartel, one of the most famous drug lords in the business, officers say.
Jorge Oceguera-Rocha resigned from his position as a correctional deputy following his arrest in September of last year.
Officials say he was driving in his private vehicle in Calimesa when he was pulled over.
When investigators searched his car, they found a gun and 104 pounds of fentanyl pills.
The former Riverside County Sheriff’s deputy was said to be working in the cartel once led by the drug lord, El Chapo.
Officers have not revealed how they found out about Rocha’s alleged involvement in drug trafficking but it’s said he was the ‘corrupt Riverside County Correctional Deputy’ mentioned in the press release last week.
The sting operation, which saw 15 arrests and $16m of narcotics seized, was aimed to drive down Sinaloa Cartel’s activity in the Inland Empire.
The cartel was led by Joaquin El Chapo Guzman, one of the most notorious drug lords since Pablo Escabar.
