The first official photo of the Princess of Wales has been released by Kensington Palace after she underwent abdominal surgery in January.

Kate Middleton sits down with her three children in the new photo, taken by Prince William in a post on social media. She is smiling next to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Louis.

It accompanied a message for Mother’s Day in the UK and gratitude from the princess for the public’s ‘continued support’.

Kate isn’t expected to return to public duties until after Easter, Buckingham Palace said earlier this year.

In the post, the princess said: “Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months.

“Wishing everyone a Happy Mother’s Day.”

The 42-year-old spent 13 nights at the London Clinic in the city after her surgery, the same place King Charles received treatment for an enlarged prostate. The monarch later announced he had been diagnosed with a form of cancer, but did not tell fans what type. The palace clarified it was not prostate cancer.

However, they have shared few details about her condition and treatment, only confirming it was not related to cancer.

Following her absence from the spotlight, royal fans have begun spreading strange conspiracy theories on social media, in particular Twitter.

One claimed the princess was gearing up to go into reality show, Celebrity Big Brother, but in turn, her uncle was actually signed up to take part. However, his time in there hasn’t been received well, according to royal commentators.
