Kate Middleton was praised for her ‘dignity’ and ‘lack of selfishness’ by the Archbishop of Canterbury in his Easter sermon at Canterbury Cathedral today.
King Charles made an appearance and spoke and shook hands with well-wishes after attending the traditional Easter Sunday church service at Windsor Castle today.
The 75-year-old rare public appearance comes since the monarch was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.
He has stepped back from major public duties while he undergoes treatment for a form of cancer, with Buckingham Palace not disclosing which type. He appeared to be in good spirits next to Queen Consort Camilla and other members of the royal family.

However, Kate Middleton and Prince William were absent from the service, as the Princess of Wales also undergoes treatment for cancer.
The 42-year-old has been keeping away from the spotlight since January, when she underwent planned abdominal surgery. At the time, Kensington Palace revealed the mom-of-three would not be partaking in royal duties until after Easter. As concerns over her absence grew over the past two months, wild conspiracy theories spread on social media, pushing the royals to release a photo of her with her children – Prince George, Louis and Princess Charlotte – on UK Mother’s Day. However, it soon became a scandal as it was revealed the picture was Photoshopped.
Following more theories getting out of hand online, the Princess released a video message in March and explained she had been diagnosed with cancer. The palace has not disclosed what type of the disease she has.
Now, King Charles and other royals attended the yearly Easter service.
As the monarch emerged from St George’s Chapel, he was greeted by a crowd of fans who shouted ‘Happy Easter’ and applauded the head of state. Queen Camilla was handed white and yellow flowers by a young boy amid the fans.
One man told Charles: “Keep going strong and never give in.”
Light-heartedly, he replied: “I have to obey my instructions.”

Royal author Robert Hardman told Sky News: “If you compare where we are now with the King with where we were shortly after his cancer diagnosis, royalists everywhere will be pretty cheered up with the sights we are seeing in Windsor.”
It comes as the Archbishop of Canterbury commended both the Kind and Catherine in his Easter sermon.
He said: “In each of our lives, there are moments which change us forever – sometimes it is individual.
“We have watched and sympathised with, and felt alongside, the dignity of the King and the Princess of Wales as they have talked of their cancer and in doing so, by their lack of selfishness, by their grace and their faith, boosted so many others.”
Kensington Palace has said the Prince and Princess of Wales have been enormously touched by the kind messages from people here in the UK, across the commonwealth and around the world in response to Her Royal Highness’s message”.
