The Kramer family, from Bel Air, California, ventured back to Universal Studios more than 30 years after receiving a voucher.
Back in 1990, they decided to drive down to sunny Southern California to enjoy a vacation at Universal Studios with their two children at the time, a son, seven and a daughter, three.
However, the weather wasn’t having any of it. Affected by pouring rain, the park was forced to close some of its most popular attractions until it cleared up. When their children threw a tantrum – as kids do – mom Carolyn marched up to customer service to complain. A representative gave them a certificate for two adults and two children to make up for the disappointment.
“They said it would last the rest of our lives,” Carolyn told NBC News.

So as 2024 came rolling around, their children are all grown up. Son Daniel has two children of his own, and as his daughter Isabella turned two, the family wanted to take a trip to Universal. That’s Carolyn’s cue, as she remembered the 30-year-old voucher.
After spending an hour with customer service on the phone, officials confirmed they would honor the certificate.
“I was like, ‘There’s no way they’re going to accept it,” said Daniel. “It was like this small, handwritten piece of paper!”
But luckily, they did.
Better keep those handwritten notes safe!
