Taylor Swift has reacted following the mass shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade earlier this week.
The 34-year-old has donated $100,000 to the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan, the local radio DJ who died after being shot in the abdomen during the mass shooting in Kansas City.
The singer wrote on the GoFundMe page, which was set up to raise $75,000: “Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss. With love, Taylor Swift.”
The fundraiser was created to help the family of the 44-year-old, as she leaves behind her husband and two children.
The page writes: “This fund has been set up to benefit the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan. Lisa was celebrating the Chiefs’ Super Bowl Victory parade when senselessly killed. She is survived by two children and her husband of 22 years.
“She was an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many. We ask that you continue to keep her family in your prayers as we grieve the loss of her life. This fund will help provide vital financial support to her family as they process this unthinkable tragedy. Any amount is appreciated.”
With Swift’s donation, the page has surpassed its initial goal, and as of the time of writing it has now reached $247,018.
Taylor had donated $50,000 before giving the same amount again eight minutes later.
Many Kansas City fans, as well as others shocked by the tragic events, have donated to the fundraiser.
One person wrote: “No family should ever have to go through this. Sending love your way ❤️”
A second added: “So incredibly sorry for this senseless tragedy. KC Kingdom has her in our thoughts and prayers.”
And a third wrote: “My heart breaks for you. I’m so sorry for your loss.”
Almost one million fans gathered at Kansas City’s Union Station on Wednesday, February 14, to celebrate the team winning this year’s Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers.
Swift was not in attendance at the parade, as she had flown to Australia to resume her Eras Tour. Her boyfriend and tight end Travis Kelce was at the parade, and interacting with fans who had lined the streets.
Towards the end of the event, after speeches from Kelce, head coach Andy Reid, and quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Police Department reported multiple gunshots had been fired around Union Station.
Officials have confirmed one person has died and at least 21 people injured, including nine children who were wounded but expected to make full recoveries.
Three suspects have since been detained.
