Kim Kardashian isn’t afraid to get up and work.
The reality star turned business mogul is still dipping her toes into television with her next role revealed to be a docuseries on Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor. The mom-of-four will not only be acting as executive producer, but she’ll star in it too.
The Kardashians star recently added American Horror Story to her never-ending resume, as well as the Paw Patrol movie. It’s a big improvement since her comedic role in the spoof film Disaster Movie in 2008, where her character was killed by an asteroid.
The SKKN founder was open over her adoration of another star, Marilyn Monroe, during her family reality series, where she took cameras behind the scenes to her iconic Met Gala look where she wore the real dress Marilyn Monroe once put on to sing President JFK Happy Birthday. It seems she’s now set her sights on another legend from the Golden Age of Hollywood.
The 43-year-old will be working with BBC Arts to produce the series called Elizabeth Taylor: Rebel Superstar. But she has a special link to the movie actress, as she conducted Taylor’s final interview before she died in 2011.
For the documentary, Kim will sit down to talk about her last ever interview and her relationship with Taylor, which many fans may not have known about.
The two have similarities, with Kim embracing the limelight and the world of celebrity, much like Taylor managed to possess during her days in Tinsel Town.
The series will include interviews, never-before-heard audio recordings, raw TV footage never seen as well as movie archives. It will dive into Taylor’s eight marriages, her love for diamonds and other sides of the actress away from the set, including activism and business.
Kim said: “Elizabeth Taylor was unapologetically herself, a fighter.
“She is proof that you can keep evolving and changing and have different chapters in your life – and she paved the way for all of us who came after her with that blueprint.”
Dame Joan Collins – who famously rivalled Taylor for the role of Cleopatra – Carole Bayer Sager, as well as Margaret O’Brien, will speak in the documentary. Dr Anthony Fauci, a scientist who worked with the star in the fight against AIDS, has been invited to speak as well.
Commissioning editor Alistair Pegg called the development “exciting”.
The BBC chief said: “This exciting series promises a new understanding of Elizabeth Taylor – both her technique and power as an actor, and her capacity for reinventing herself.”
Hamish Fergusson, creative director and executive producer at Passion Pictures said: “Elizabeth developed and defined our understanding of stardom and celebrity across decades. A unique talent and true luminary, we’re hugely excited to explore her extraordinary life and enduring legacy.”
