Google Earth fans were horrified by what they believed was a real-life Godzilla lurking beneath the waves at specific coordinates near Taiwan.
A TikTok and Instagram user, who garners millions of views on his Google Earth videos shared the spot where the iconic huge lizard was supposedly captured via satellites.
The ‘discovery’ made it’s way onto Reddit, under the subreddit GoogleEarthFinds, but the streetview and photos from the spot has mysteriously disappeared weeks later.
One user asked on the forum: “Why is Godzilla on Google Earth? Saw a video, sure enough, it’s there. How? WTF?”

Reddit users question Godzilla’s coordinates on Google Earth
While Godzilla should be spending his time chilling in the Land of the Rising Sun or fighting King Kong, he was reportedly enjoying a swim in the waters near China and Tokyo.
Screenshots from the user’s Google Earth find showed a boat out in the Milky Sea, and a child pointing out at the water where Godzilla’s coordinates were from.
Another person asked what was happening, and although it appears edited, that there is something ‘there’ they can see.
They asked: “I thought it was BS but when I looked it up on Google because the coordinates was on the description it was actually true but it’s looks massively edited. Can anyone explain this? 2450’09″N 12157’49″E Milky Sea, Yilan County, Taiwan.”
But it was cleared up by someone else who explained anyone can upload edited snaps to Google Earth.
They said: “This is just a self-published (and edited) 360 photo uploaded at a location. Plenty out there.”
Someone else wrote: “While someone else said it was placed there as a tourist attraction. But I cant find that information anywhere. now why would this be allowed on Google Earth?”
However, the spot where the streetview access was, as seen in the video, has been removed. So it’s likely, Google got wind of it and took it off their platform.
