A long list of beloved TV and movie stars were asked to sing Taylor Swift’s song Blank Space, and the result is something short of a masterpiece.
We see the likes of Marvel’s Robert Downey Jr and Davine Joy Randolph, Phoebe Dynevor and Colman Domingo taking up the challenge without hesitation.
Other Hollywood legends like Jodie Foster and Julianne Moore sing along, not forgetting Killers of the Flower Moon actress Lily Gladstone. Saltburn star Barry Keoghan talked through the lyrics but Natalie Portman and Taraji Phenson gave their all.
Viewers loved Robert Downey Jr singing ‘ayeeeeee’ and getting into it, and seeing Moore and Portman laughing at the lyrics “I can make the bad guys good for a weekend”.
Fans also caught an inside Swiftie joke from several years ago. In 2012, the American Country Music Awards accidentally cut off the star in an awkward moment before the report called her Taylor Smith, instead of Swift. It’s something not all hardcore fans know, but Taraji dropping it in was applauded by listeners.
“The Taylor Smith reference was ‘chef’s kiss’,” wrote one.
“Waiting for Taylor Smith to comment,” added a second.
“I just need the RDJ version please,” begged another, before someone else chimed in: “I cracked up when RDJ sang the ‘ay'”.
And one fan wanted to praise the songwriter herself: “Doesn’t matter if you don’t know her. But when it comes to TS, like her or not, she has a very, very, very huge fan base who know all her songs.”
