“I had one month of a, honestly, complete psychological breakdown”.
Miley Cyrus‘ mom, Tish, has revealed she had a “completely psychological breakdown” before she divorced the singer’s famous dad Billy Ray.
The 56-year-old opened up about the tough time when she spoke on the Call Her Daddy podcast on Tuesday. She shared what happened before making the difficult choice to leave the country star Billy Ray Cyrus in 2020.
The breakdown of the marriage took place the same year her mother died.
She said: “It was so crazy, honestly, my two biggest fears in life were always being alone and my mom passing away.
“I was like, ‘I just don’t know if I’ll survive when my mom dies’. Like honestly. And I had, like, one month of a, honestly, complete psychological breakdown.
“It was the worst thing – like honestly. It was not good”.
She went to celebrity psychiatrist Daniel Amen, pleading to be admitted to a “mental hospital” but he said it wasn’t the “best thing for either of us”.
The star said she couldn’t eat, sleep or stop crying and went down to 130 pounds.
Tish then told Alex Cooper, the host: “I don’t have my mom, and then I don’t have my husband that’s been my husband for 30 years. Like, holy crap, I’m scared.”
At the time it was the Covid pandemic, and singer Billy Ray went to Tennessee while Tish stayed in California near daughter Miley.
She later said she stayed longer than she wanted to out of ‘fear of being alone’.
The pair had married in 1992 and briefly split in both 2010 and 2013 but each time got back together. However, Tish says she knew this time it was for good.
However, she didn’t file for divorce until April 2022, two years after they lived separately during Covid. Both members of the celebrity couple have moved on. Billy tied the knot with fellow music star Joanna ‘Firerose’ Hodhes in October last year, after proposing the summer before.
Whereas Tish walked down the aisle to TV actor Dominic Purcell last April.
It comes after fans believed Miley Cyrus snubbed her dad Billy Ray in her acceptance speech at the Grammys over the weekend.
