YouTuber Ben Potter has sadly died as his wife Nathalie pays tribute to the ‘loving and genuine’ content creator.

The 40-year-old passed away two days ago, on June 8th, in an ‘unfortunate accident’, his wife added.

She praised his work and YouTube channel while asking fans to give her space to ‘grieve’, while promising to not let his success fall by the wayside after his death.

In a heartbreaking tribute she said ‘he was my world’ and was always there for his loved ones.

Ben Potter’s wife, Nathalie, penned on his Twitter page: “Two days ago, on June 8th, my husband, Ben Potter, passed away in an unfortunate accident.

“To many of you, he was Comicstorian, voicing stories from across multiple different mediums. To his loved ones, he was one of the best and most supportive individuals anyone could ask for.

“As a husband, a son, a brother, a friend, or even just a stranger, Ben was loving and genuine. He was someone who would listen and make time for his loved ones. He would do his best to make everyone laugh and make sure they were okay.

“He was our rock and he’d reassure his loved ones whenever they needed it”.

Nathalie also told fans his work wouldn’t get lost, adding: “He was my world and I need time to be with friends and family. I have so many things I need to figure out but firstly, I need to grieve. I ask that you respect my privacy as well as everyone else’s.

“Right now my priority is preserving everything he’s built and I don’t have any plans beyond that.

“His channel was one of his greatest accomplishments, and while we all need our time to mourn him, I know he wouldn’t want it to end like this”.

Ben Potter spent 10 years crafting his channel, focusing on topics that allowed him to show ‘appreciation for his hobbies’ with others alike online.

Nathalie concluded: “The team and I want to keep that going. To honor him by continuing to tell great stories by great people, as well as to keep the memory of our very own superhero alive.

“We supported each other on everything we wanted to do and I’m not about to stop now”.

Potter had become a content celebrity in terms of his fans, he surpassed the 3 million subscriber mark on the video-sharing platform, and released almost 4,000 videos.

Toy company Funko also sent their condolences to the family, writing: “We are so sorry for your loss”.

Fans pay tribute after Ben Potter’s death

One user wrote: “He did so much for so many. I am absolutely gutted to hear this. Rest in peace, Ben.”

A second added: “Incredibly heart breaking, Comicstorian was an absolutely incredible YouTuber that pioneered so much and got so many people into reading comics. Devastating news. Rest in peace.”

While a third penned: “His videos entertained me for hours back in the day, even got to meet him briefly at PAX East in like 2018. RIP to a legend, this was awful to find out.”

“Oh my god…. this guy literally made my childhood,” said another.

“I am a Complete Loss for words…” echoed a fan, and someone else wrote: “I am so sorry for your loss. Ben’s content was incredible.”

Many were just as shocked by the news.

A Twitter follower added: “I’m sorry for your loss. Ben was a huge inspiration to me. This is truly heartbreaking.”

While another wrote: “My heart completely sank reading this, oh my god…I’m extremely sorry for your loss, Nathalie. Ben’s name rung so many bells in the comic book community & is a main reason why so many of us are involved with characters the way we are today. May his soul Rest in Peace.”

Ben Potter’s last update on his social media was from the day he died, June 8th.

He informed fans a video was on the way but slightly behind the usual upload schedule, telling them it would release on June 9th due to editing.

He also asked fans what content he should do next, asking their opinion between Wonder Woman or Daredevil.
