Beloved Friends star Matthew Perry was remembered at the BAFTAs over the weekend, which has left fans emotional.

The late actor, who was found dead in a hot tub at his home in Los Angeles in October 2022, was included in this year’s In Memoriam segment of the awards show.

Stars of the small screen who have left us were honored at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards on Saturday.

Comedians Romesh Ranganathan and Rob Beckett hosted the event, with Romesh stating: “Tonight has been an incredible celebration of everything that is special about our industry…”

Beckett continued: “So, now let’s take a moment to remember those people who are no longer with us, who played their part.”

Matthew Perry was the final name to appear in the emotional BAFTA montage, and it included a clip from an episode of the sitcom where Ross gets a tan.

“I went to that tanning place your wife suggested,” Ross, played by David Schwimmer, says.

“Was that place, the Sun?” Chandler responds in his iconic sarcastic manner.

Other clips of his time on the screen involved Chandler and Joey (Matt LeBlanc) hugging.

Romesh spoke after the segment: “So many legends in front of and behind the camera, gone but not forgotten.”

But the tribute has left fans in tears.

One fan wrote on Twitter: “Jeez, the Matthew Perry part of that BAFTA ‘In Memoriam’ segment almost tipped me over the edge. Perfectly pitched.”

A second added: “Sobbing at that last Matthew Perry clip thanks BAFTA.”

And a third said: “So happy they honoured Matthew Perry in the baftas tonight, forever missed.”

While a four penned: “BAFTAs had me crying with I’ll be there for you and then putting Roy Battersby and Matthew Perry up”.
