Lizzo has said anyone who criticized her dress at the Met Gala was fatphobic, after fans slammed the design online.
The Met Gala is fashion‘s biggest night of the year, with a long list of celebrities gracing the Red Carpet to showcase stylist’s biggest and out-of-the-box designs to date.
The music star joined other Hollywood stars at the 2024 event, including Zendaya (who wore three gowns) and Jennifer Lopez.
However, the About Damn Time star has slammed critics of her dress after trolls attacked her online, including Twitter.

Not just any celeb can walk up to attend, despite the eye-watering price tag of a ticket (*ahem* $75,000). One strict Met Gala rule is that stars have to receive an invitation before they fork over the cash – and then have the stress of finding a stylist to meet their fashion dream for the big night.
For this year’s Met Gala, Lizzo received an invite in the mail, and chose a Weinsanto floral gown with matching headpiece for her ensemble.
2024’s theme was Garden of Time, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.
But fans had an issue with her headpiece, which they claimed it looked like a ‘used coffee filter’.

Fans slam Lizzo’s Met Gala look
Users took to Twitter to poke fun at the outfit.
One wrote: “LMAO Lizzo is looking like a meme potential can’t wait to see the results”.
A second added: “Dudes see this and all they can think about is crumpling up a piece of paper and shooting it at Lizzo’s dome”.
A third said: “Lizzo really let someone convince her that this looked good and on theme she looks horrifi.
“It’s not a flattering fit, the color washes her out, she looks uncomfortable, and even her usually pretty a** face gets overtaken by the look.
“This is unfortunate as f***”.
After the criticism, Lizzo took to Instagram and shared a montage of her wearing her Met Gala outfit. She wrote as the caption: “If I’m not in your best dressed, you’re fatphobic”.
For the floral creation, she wore a sleeveless pale brown dress with sheer, sparkling fabric over the top, that matched her skin tone.

She wore a bowl-shaped headpiece that stood several inches taller than her head.
The mastermind behind the fashion statement called it the ‘vase dress’, which may refer to the upturned skirt.
The full body corset was one of the many gowns worn by stars at the New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday.
The event, which falls on the first Monday in May each year, was cancelled during Covid but came back with a storm. However, some stars didn’t make it this year, disappointing fans, including Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.
