A man was shot and killed by his friend who allegedly goes by the name ‘Batman’ and later fled the scene, cops say.
Deputies were called to a home on Crystal Lane in Kannapolis, North Carolina, to reports of a man had been shot. The sheriff’s office said the caller told them the shooter – who goes by ‘Batman’ – had fled the incident.
When officers arrived, 33-year-old Jonathan Wayne Yancey was found dead from a single gunshot wound.
Witnesses say 36-year-old ‘Batman’ is Cody Dewayne Helms, a friend of Yancey, who shot him moments after an argument broke out.
Officers said he fled but was taken into custody by an officer after authorities arrived.
He has been charged with murder and is being held at the Rowan County Jail.
Anyone with information about the shooting should call Detective D.R. Fero at 704-216-8702 or Lt. Ryan Barkley at 704-216-8711.
