Prince Harry is opening up about his American life and has considered pursuing United States citizenship.
The royal told Good Morning America about his life with his wife Meghan Markle and their two young children Archie and Lilibet. The couple left their royal roles behind when they stepped down as senior members of The Firm in 2020. They first moved to Vancouver in Canada before settling down in Montecito, California, later that year.
He told the show: “It’s amazing. I love every single day.”
When the Duke of Sussex was asked if feels ‘American’, he laughed: “Do I feel American? No? I don’t know how I feel.”
The 39-year-old was pressed further if he’d ever pursue a US citizenship, he admitted: “I have considered it, yeah”.
But he added he doesn’t know what is stopping him from doing it.
Prince Harry said: “American citizenship is a thought that has crossed my mind, but certainly is not something that is a high priority for me right now.”
Meghan and Harry tied the knot in 2018 and welcomed Archie the following year, who is now four years old. They then brought Lilibet into the world, when they were living in the US, and she is two years old.
Harry then gushed over his children: “They both have got an incredible sense of humor and make us laugh and keep us grounded every single day like most kids do.
“I’m just very grateful to be a dad.”
“I love my family,” the 39-year-old continued. “The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that.”
When the royal was asked if King Charles’ cancer news would bring the family together, he said: “Absolutely. Yeah, I’m sure”, and spoke of the strength of the family unit in challenging times. He stated illness can unite relatives.
It comes after the Duke of Sussex flew over to the UK for 25 hours to spend a short time with his father and Queen Consort Camilla. King Charles announced recently he has been diagnosed with a form of cancer, but has not clarified what type. He has begun treatment remotely as an outpatient and will be continuing with official duties at home while public-facing events and travel have been postponed.
