Godzilla, a morbidly obese monkey, has died after eating himself to death after efforts to reduce his weight at a ‘fat camp’.
Sadly, the macaque’s appetite increased after shoppers fed him junk food at a market in Bangkok, Thailand.
The animal, who was only six years old, died at the Crystal Pet Hospital on Monday, having suffering a myriad of weight-related issues.
He struggled with diabetes, thyroid disease and Cushing’s syndrome, which causes stress hormone cortisol to overproduce.

Dr Supasek Sarachitti, the hospital’s director said it had been suspected the monkey may suffer a heart attack due to his health.
It’s said his owner came every day to take care of Godzilla, and he passed away peacefully in their arms.
He was cremated, with his ashes returned to his previous caretaker, who adopted him kept him as a pet, which is illegal under Thailand’s wildlife laws.
Sadly, he was discovered chained up in a Bangkok market where passers-by would give him sweet drinks and chocolate.
At the time, authorities found he weight 19kg, double the average for his species.
He was sent to a ‘fat camp’ where his diet was changed to lettuce, crickets, dill, worms, and sunflower seeds.
Godzilla managed to drop to 15kg but his health conditions failed to improve.
Other animals in his species typically live up to 37 years in captivity.
